We've given names to just a few of the trees that Premier Steven Marshall has decided to destroy in Helen Mayo Park on the banks of the River Torrens, so they can be replaced with a stadium..

2. ADOPT A PARK SPOT

Four city residents have “adopted” spots in the Park Lands to keep clean.

The initiative’s part of the volunteer-run Adopt a Spot scheme, which aims to reduce waste entering the ocean.

It’s why the Adelaide City Council has been busy installing nesting boxes as alternative accommodation.

7. WELCOME TO THE CAR PARK LANDS

Adelaide is the world's only City in a Park, but seems to be turning into a City in a car park.

Last month the North Adelaide Golf Club expanded hard surface car parking into Possum Park / Pirltawardli (Park 1) off Strangways Terrace, apparently without getting endorsement from the Park Lands Authority or the City Council.

8. NEW TRAIL GUIDE: NANTU WAMA the "HORSE PLAIN"

Our latest Trail Guide - the 13th in our library - has just been released.

This large Park in the northern Park Lands is best-known as being home to horses, but there is much more here, to explore.

9. PLEASED TO MEET YOU, BARBARA PRESTON

Barbara Preston, poet, writer and former Hills dweller enjoys a regular walk through the eastern Park Lands. APA’s Loine Sweeney went with her to capture Barbara’s thoughts as she walked - and looked up into the trees.

10. MORE DOG OFF-LEASH AREAS COMING

The City Council is soon expected to adopt new rules for dog off-leash and on-leash areas within your Park Lands.

A revised dog management map allows more dog off-leash areas and simpler rules for when your dog should be on a leash.

As we reported back in June 2021, the sport of disc golf is booming in King Rodney Park / Ityamai-itpina (Park 15) in the eastern Park Lands.
