1. DOUBTS ON GOV'TS 'NATIONAL PARK CITY' PUSH

The State Government's recently-foreshadowed attacks on three Park Lands sites has raised doubts about its current push to have Adelaide declared a National Park City.

Next week (July 20-21) cities from across the globe will spruik their environmental credentials to a National Park City Foundation "virtual summit".

But Adelaide's push will be jeopardised by the Marshall Government's recently-announced attacks on three Open Green Public sites within Park 27.

2. COME ON A GUIDED WALK

Our schedule of Guided Walks is getting ever more popular.

Winter weather hasn't put off an ever-increasing number of people who've enjoyed the experience of walking through a selected Park on a Guided Walk of up to two hours.

There were a record 50 participants on the most recernt Guided Walk (11 July) through Park 11.

We're looking forward to the next one, on 25 July, in G.S. Kingston Park / Wirrarninthi (Park 23) hosted by our father and son Park Ambassador team of Ted and Nate Jennings.

This is a 40-second video commercial produced by Flinders University "Community Voices" student videographers Aiden, Tim and Finn. We are now using this commercial to both promote Guided Walks, and the opportunity to volunteer as a Park Ambassador on Guided Walks.

Twins Yolanda and Yasmin brought their parents with them on a recent APA Guided Walk through Park 11.

They’ve told APA’s Loine Sweeney how surprised and delighted they were at the lush greenery they found along the River Torrens / Karrawirra Parri.

6. DON'T HIBERNATE IN WINTER!

Traditionally, Adelaide has been known as a city that goes to sleep during winter.

But event organisers have been making use of our open, green spaces this season, perhaps influenced by changing COVID-19 restrictions on indoor activities.

Two big events currently bringing Adelaideans out of hibernation in the Park Lands are Illuminate and Jurassic Creatures.
