An artist’s impression has emerged, of the State Government proposal to destroy the most biodiverse site within your Park Lands, with a compound much larger than the current Thebarton Police barracks.

State Opposition leader David Speirs has promised that Liberal MPs will move in State Parliament, in May, for an independent inquiry into at least one of the State Government’s six recent attacks on your Adelaide Park Lands.

4. PARK LANDS SHOWCASE HISTORY

South Australia’s history will come alive before your eyes - in your Adelaide Park Lands and elsewhere - during the month-long History Festival in May.

Multiple sites within your Park Lands and multiple event organisers are following advice from History Trust chair Elizabeth Ho to “keep the SA history flame alive”.

5. WE NEED YOU - PLEASE JOIN US

We are a grassroots community organisation. We Explore, Inspire, Protect, and Restore.

But we are only as strong as our Members and our Volunteers.

You are receiving the non-members version of this newsletter which means you're not (yet) a Member of our team.

Will you help us to spread the word, to encourage others (especially the State Government!) to Love Your Park Lands ?

There are two ways to do that: as a Member, or as a Volunteer (or both!)

If you were to become an APA member, you would then be able to book for any of our Guided Walks for free, and you would also unlock 15% discounts to all the merch in the APA Shop.

More importantly, your membership fee (as low as $15 per year for a single concession) would be tangible support for our Park Lands strategies:

Explore, Inspire, Protect and Restore.

6.LAST DAYS TO SEE PARK LANDS ART

Take the artists’ advice: it’s so much better to see the 2023 Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize finalists in person at the Festival Centre exhibition, than it is to browse the pics on-line.

Twenty-three artists are sharing in artwork sales (so far) of more than $35,000, but the exhibition must close at 4pm on Sunday 7 May.
