1. CAN FIVE THOUSAND SWAY PREMIER OR COUNCIL?

A petition, seeking a win-win for swimmers and your Park Lands, has reached the critical milestone of 5,000 signatures.

The Premier, Peter Malinauskas, and the Member for Adelaide, Lucy Hood, have been advised of the overwhelming community demand for an aquatic centre win-win outcome.

Now, we need your help to deliver the same message to the City Council.

2. SHARDS OF HISTORY

As you walk through your Park Lands, traces of early colonial settlement can be found under your feet.

There are stories to be told about these fragments of clay pottery, chinaware, and locally-made bricks.

3. CITY ILLUMINATED

It’s that time again. The Illuminate Adelaide festival, in its third year, is lighting up the city and encouraging us off the couch on a winter evening.

While some things about the fest – encompassing “art, light, music and technology” – remain the same, there are a few notable changes.

4. WETLANDS AWARDED

The three-hectare wetlands in the southern part of your Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Park 16) have won two awards from the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA).

The wetlands, constructed in 2021-22 have been acknowledged with an "SA Award of Excellence for Land Management" and also the "SA Healthy Parks, Healthy People Award"

But we are only as strong as our Members and our Volunteers.

7.SAFE PLACE TO GATHER

The City Council and the State Government have combined to set up what’s been described as a “safe place to gather” for people coming to Adelaide from remote communities.

The decision allocates a part of 'Edwards Park' - i.e. the former netball courts off Anzac Highway in the southern part of G.S. Kingston Park / Wirrarninthi (Park 23) - for at least six months.

The State Government has repeatedly made dubious decisions about your Park Lands without consulting you. But their flawed processes, mired in secrecy, are now farcical.

They don't even want to let you know about Park Lands sites that they are no longer planning to attack.
