1. WORLD BODY URGED: REJECT SA's "PARK CITY" HYPOCRISY

The London-based National Park City Foundation has been urged not to fall for State Government hypocrisy in seeking "Park City" status for Adelaide, while the Government continues to attack the Open Green Public Adelaide Park Lands.

The SA Government has started the process of seeking endorsement of Adelaide as the world's second National Park City.

However, APA has advised the National Park City Foundation that the Adelaide bid cannot be taken seriously, because the State Government keeps on attacking Park Lands.

7. THROUGH A CEMETERY AND BEYOND

Father and son team Ted and Nate Jennings earlier this month led a fascinating Guided Walk through an environmental trail, wetlands, past historic grave sites, and rare native bush tucker plants in G.S. Kingston Park / Wirrarninthi (Park 23)

Biodiversity, animal sculptures and historic ruins were all on display during the APA Guided Walk.

Wet weather has forced a prolonged delay in an SA Water project to upgrade a major water main underneath Rundle Park / Kadlitpina (Park 13)

City Council staff held a site meeting with SA Water's project team in Rundle Park on Thursday 12 August.

10. HAVE YOUR SAY ON PARK PLAN

The City Council is undertaking a long-overdue revision of its “Community Land Management Plan” for your Open Green Public Adelaide Park Lands. It’s released, for community consultation, a draft of the "General Provisions"(the over-arching framework).

APA’s Kate Treloar has examined the document and has some suggestions for how you might wish to respond to the Council.

11. DRAINAGE AND ROCKS GOING INTO WETLAND

More than five thousand truckloads of soil have been excavated so far from the new wetlands under construction in the southern part of Victoria Park / Pakpakanthi (Park 16).

The soil is being stockpiled nearby in the Park and will be returned to the area of the wetlands later this year to support the growth of more than 100,000 new plants.

To assist in the management of water within the wetland, a network of drainage pipes and pits are being installed, with about 75% of these works completed.

Rocks used for erosion control and stability have also started to appear within the wetland, with about 500 tonnes of the total 4,500 tonnes placed so far.

This is the biggest earthmoving project in your Open Green Public Park Lands since the early 1960s.
