You are reading the non-members version of this newsletter - which means you are not (yet) a member. If you were to become an APA member, you would then be able to book for any of our Guided Walks for free, and you would also unlock 15% discounts to all the merch in the APA Shop. More importantly, your membership fee (as low as $20 per year for a single concession) would be tangible support for our Park Lands strategies: Explore, Inspire, Protect and Restore. What are you waiting for? But membership is not the only way you can help. Another simple option is to donate. Even better, join our volunteer team. Choose from the various potential roles we've described on our volunteer page, here. |

by Shane Sody The final approval for what’s been dubbed a Festival Plaza “monster” will be considered in a city meeting room on 11 June. So far, concerns expressed by planning, heritage, Park Lands and community activists have been unable to persuade the Government to re-think its push for a 38-storey takeover of your community land.

It's on Saturday morning, 7 June 2025 just north of the Rymill Park Lake. City staffers will have gloves and tools ready for you. "No green thumb needed" they say. "Just a love for nature and community spirit." |

14. City budget clarification |
14. City budget clarification |
In our previous newsletter (16 May 2025) we raised concerns that the City of Adelaide's draft budget for 2025-26 appeared to be slashing funds for Park Lands maintenance, from $22.89 million, down to a mere $7.7 million. The Council has assured us that this is not the case. In the draft budget, funding for Park Lands maintenance was (confusingly) spread across several portfolios. This was not explained in the document. Nevertheless, we have been advised that the total figure proposed for 2025-6 was in fact an 11% increase in Park Lands maintenance, to $25.55 million. |
