We are a grassroots community organisation. We Explore, Inspire, Protect, and Restore.

But we are only as strong as our Members; our Volunteers; and our Donors.

You are receiving the non-members version of this newsletter which means you're not (yet) a Member of our team, or perhaps a previous membership has expired.

Will you help us? There are three ways to do that: as a Member, as a Volunteer or as a Donor.

If you were to become an APA member, then you would then be able to book for any of our Guided Walks for free, and you would also unlock 15% discounts to all the merch in the APA Shop.

More importantly, your membership fee (as low as $20 per year for a single concession) would be tangible support for our Park Lands strategies:

6. BABY POSSUM GOES VIRAL

A seven-second video of a Park Lands baby possum in its mother's pouch has gone viral.

Hundreds of thousands of people around the world have seen our Facebook post, featuring a one-week old possum. It's the latest report from Adelaide University’s possum researcher, Tara McKenzie.

The City of Adelaide is being urged to become more ambitious with proposals to restore lost areas of your Park Lands.

The City’s Draft Strategic Plan 2024-28 is out for public consultation until 20 November.

You’re being urged to have your say on how the City Council can achieve the right balance between encouraging sport on your Park Lands, without losing Open Green Public spaces.

10. MOSAIC SMASHED

History and nature combine to make up the colourful ‘mosaic’ of a park.

However, cultural historian Dr Noris Ioannou argues that this ‘sense of place’ in your Park 27 will be ruined by the demolition of the historic police barracks and destruction of Kate Cocks Park for a new Women’s and Children’s Hospital and multi-storey car park.
